Food safety training is not only a legal requirement for food handlers and managers but also crucial to improve the performance and success of your business.
We make it easy to achieve by running a number of CIEH accredited courses throughout the year on varying days of the week, including weekends, and evenings.

To satisfy the requirements of the food safety act 1990 training must be commensurate to the work being carried out. We offer a range of courses to cater for all levels of requirements. Levels of Training
The old levels known as basic, intermediate and advanced have now been replaced with new level 1 through to level 4 courses in food safety. These are split into sector specific catorgories to make learning more relevant to business environments. Each level 1-3 can be taken with a focus on Retail, Manufacturing, or Catering. Level 4 in Catering or Manufacturing.
In addition we offer an online training option to satisfy legal good practice guidance for all employees to achieve within 4 weeks of starting work. The chart below helps put into context our training options with industries good practice guidance.

TFS Online Food Hygiene Awarness Training.
In line with legal good practice guidance all food handlers should have food hygiene awareness training within 4 weeks of starting work. Those staff handling open higher risk products or whom have a supervisory role should then progress to the following accredited courses. This course is suitable for waiting staff, porters, warehouse staff and like, whom require a basic induction to food safety. It is also ideal for new employees, where the subject matter is new to the candidate, the candidate handles low risk or wrapped food or where the candidate is waiting to undertake further training. CIEH Level 1 Award in Food Safety Awareness in Catering / for Retail / for Manufacturing.
Suitable for all staff involved in a food business. This course is accredited by the CIEH and like our above on line course covers food hygiene awarness. For food handlers involved in open high risk foods, such as ready to eat products or where cooking is undertaken, the following Level 2 Award is suitable. Ideally taken within 3 months of employment. The level 1 course runs over 3 hours with a multiple choice examination.
CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering / for Retail / for Maunufacturing.
For candidates who prepare, cook and handle food. This level replaces the basic foundation certificate in food hygiene qualification. This is a popular choice for most businesses to train all food handlers in. This will ensure each employee has a sound understanding to protect food and your customers.
The qualification covers the following topics:
- Legislation
- Food safety and hygiene hazards
- Temperature control
- Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
- Cooking, hot holding and reheating
- Food handling
- Principles of safe food storage
- Cleaning
- Food premises and equipment

NEW CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (Refresher)
It is no longer necessary to complete the full day level 2 course every 3 years!
This time saving refresher programme is designed for anyone already holding the Level 2 certificate but due for a refresher (recommended by the CIEH to be completed every 3 years). Save time by completing the refresher training over just 3 hours, 2 of which are done at your own leisure in the form of a work book. The last hour is a discussion session with our fully qualified tutor followed by a 30 question multiple choice exam paper.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering / for Retail / for Manufacturing.
Replacing the intermediate course the level 3 course is designed for managers, supervisors and those wishing to progress their learning. This course is run over 3 days with a multiple choice examination. With flexible training arrangements we can can tailor this course to your needs. CIEH Level 3 Award in HACCP in Catering / Manufacturing.
Enables food business operators, or managers to develop a food safety management system based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.
A one day course followed by an assignment designed to incorporate approximately 20 hours of learning. This course will give managers or owners and those involved within a HACCP team the knowledge and practical skills to implement a HACCP plan.
The course covers:
- HACCP Processes.
- How to develop, monitor and evaluate HACCP based systems.
The course is assesed by way of assignment where candidates are expected to draft a simple HACCP plan after the one day of structured learning.
Candidates whom fail to achieve the required grade are given a second chance to re-submit the assignment for marking within six months of the course.

CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering
Replacing the advanced food hygiene qualification this course is intended for senior hygiene personnel, and senior managers.
